About Us
Geneva Center is a year-round non-profit retreat, camp & conference center open to all.
What we do
Now in our 56th year, GCI operates as a year-round non-profit retreat, camp & conference center.
GCI’s every day goal is to provide all who visit us with extraordinary hospitality as a means of keeping Geneva Center as the ‘preferred’ close-to-nature location in Northern Indiana for retreats, conferences, meetings and youth camps.
Our facilities and grounds are very conducive to events for groups from churches, schools, colleges & universities, non-profit organizations, business meetings, and families as well as for scouting, 4-H, crafting groups and more…anyone or group seeking a nature-encased venue to be “away from it all…but not too far.” (We have quality internet and A/V capability.)
We take pride in maintaining our facilities, grounds and Olympic-size swimming pool in excellent condition and in making our guests feel welcomed and cared for.
Our board of directors has set as our long-term objective to operate so we are able to cover our operating expenses with revenues from operations, thereby allowing all donations, contributions and grants…those gifts that are important to all non-profit charitable organizations… to be used for maintaining and improving our 235 wooded-acres, our 11 facilities and out wonderful grounds.
Our staff is directed by Cathy Adley, Director of Operations, who has been a part of Geneva Center for over fourteen (14) years, and who is committed to providing all our guests excellent hospitality. We have experienced hospitality specialists on staff and a maintenance & grounds team that take pride in all they do.
History
Geneva Center was born in 1965 when the Presbyterian Church USA’s Synod of Indiana bought the property in the early 1960’s, built the Main Conference Center, Olympic-sized pool, 6 cabins and began utilizing it for its summer camps, meetings and retreats. Over the years new facilities were added including Butler Lodge, the pavilions by the big pond and by the swimming pool along with other amenities.
On January 1, 2016 Geneva Center Incorporated (GCI) was created and is now its own 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization with its own board of directors. This approach of having a separate organization operate the facilities is consistent with what other former church-affiliated retreat centers are doing across the U.S. Geneva Center facilities are open to all groups seeking up-to-date facilities in a close-to-nature setting that is conducive to their event or activity.
We will continue the positive legacy of 50+ years of Geneva Center operating as a year-round independent retreat, camp & conference center.
